Introducing ECG Analyzer

Today I’m delighted to launch a brand new app 🎉 It’s my first new health app release in around four years.

The motivation behind this one was simple: I wanted to create a dedicated space where users could organise their Apple Watch ECGs and get more value from them.

Apple Watch introduced ECG recording back in 2018 with the Series 4. At the time, it launched with a slick Watch app and the ability to view and share PDF reports from the Health app. Since then, ECG support has expanded to all new non-SE Apple Watch models and rolled out to most regions — but the experience itself hasn’t changed all that much.

I found myself wanting more. Better ways to navigate my ECGs, explore patterns across multiple recordings, derive useful metrics, and generate clearer PDF reports for my own records and to share with a clinician.

There are other apps available. Some work with dedicated ECG hardware rather than Apple Watch, making them accessible on Android as well. However, many of the apps I explored came with very high subscription costs, sometimes even weekly charges.

Solving that problem was one of two main reasons I built ECG Analyzer.

The second was context. Through research and conversations while developing the app, healthcare professionals consistently highlighted how important it is to understand what was happening when an ECG was recorded — what the user was doing, how they were feeling, and what symptoms they experienced.

With that in mind, I wanted to expand on the default ECG experience. What if you want to add symptoms retrospectively? What if you want to record notes about what you were doing at the time? ECG Analyzer makes this possible — and crucially, that context carries through into the PDF reports you can generate, making them far more useful for sharing with clinicians, family, or for your own records.

ECG Analyzer is available now on the App Store, and I’d love for you to try it out. Thank you to the testers who helped shape the app, and as always, I really appreciate the feedback I receive across all my apps — please feel free to reach out.
